Each potential foster family receives an application. You must provide personal as well as employment references. Your name(s) will be submitted to the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services for a criminal background check as well as a child abuse history search. You will be assigned to classes (Foster Care & Adoption Pre-Service Training - PRIDE). Once you have completed the classes, a social worker will begin your home study / the interview process.

Our experience and the experience of others who have worked with placement of children indicate that successful parents are those who are well prepared.
- Are foster families needed to care for infants?
Yes.
- Are foster children ever available for adoption through the older child adoption program?

The time spent in foster care may vary from one day to 18 months.
