Through no fault of their own, many children wait for the security of a family. Children who have been abused, neglected and/or abandoned are waiting. Children who were born to parents who abused drugs are waiting. Homes of St. Mark is dedicated to helping those children. Two Homes of St. Mark programs- Foster Care Services and Older Child Adoption Services - are designed to provide families for children in need.
Foster parents should be:
- At least 21 years of age
- Married or single
- Own, rent or lease their home
- Willing to complete CPR and first aid classes
- Willing to participate in parenting preparation classes
- Wiling to give children love and support even though the children may not reciprocate immediately
- Willing to help children learn to trust adults
- Willing to utilize professional guidance as needed
- Willing to care for an individual child or sibling group
There are many similarities and some differences in foster parenting children and adoptive parenting. Learn more about the two programs to see if you are ready to SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH WAITING CHILDREN.
